OUR STORY
Hello!
How did we get here?

A very long time ago, a sixteen year old wrote her future dreams down for a class and it was to own a Vintage Shop. She was brought up visiting antique shops with her parents. Her treat was to sometimes pick out an antique children's book to purchase and she would love reading the book with her mom. One of her other loves was to hear her family history and to look at old photos and she would always be upset that her mom only kept a few outfits from her younger days because her mom was so fashionable. Her mom would love to shop and passed this love down to her daughter. The daughter would often joke that she spent half her time in the middle of the circular rack at Dearborn's Jacobsons while her mom shopped the third-markdown rack. She knew how to shop style at a bargain. As a teen, her dad found vintage clothing shops such as Penny Pinchers, Cinderella's Attic and Retro Image for his unique daughter to shop at. He knew that she loved one-of-a-kind clothing. She eventually got a job in high school at the then happening Fairlane mall and would spend her paycheck at Contempo Casuals and Le Chateau along with concert tickets to all her favorite alternative bands.

Being raised in an immigrant family, there was only one choice after high school and that was to go to College. Thinking about her love of books and how children always gravitated to her, she decided to become a teacher and teach children how to read and off to Chicago she went to go to University and eventually teach in Chicago Public Schools. As challenging and as low paying as it was in the beginning, she loved teaching but needed something to supplement her income. Her closet was overflowing with her vintage finds. A friend recommended that she start selling some of her vintage and that began a love affair of doing vintage shows and treasure hunting during the Summers she had off of teaching.

Through a series of events, the daughter ended back in Dearborn after the passing of her father. Going through old boxes, she found what she had written as a teen and shared it with her mama. They looked at each other and her mom decided that she would make her dream come true and open a vintage shop. They talked and decided on Dearborn as its location and found the perfect vintage building for the endeavor. Unfortunately, her mama didn't live long enough to see her encouragement come to reality in person, but we hope she is always with us in spirit. She's definitely with us in style and I hope that I, Jen, am making both of my parents proud.
